Goran Visnjic is a Croatian-American actor born in 1972 in Sibenik, Croatia.
He was raised in a humble home, where his mother worked as a sales clerk, and his father was a bus driver. Goran Visnjic was serving the JNA army when Yugoslavia broke up. He left the army and went back to him home town Sibenik. Soon after that Goran Visnjic was enlisted in the Croatian army, and was sent to fight for his country. 

Once the war finished, he headed to Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, and enrolled at the Academy of Dramatic Arts. His talent didn’t go unnoticed, and in his second year of studying, Goran Visnjic was chosen to play Hamlet, thus becoming the youngest Croatian actor to win the role of the Danish Prince. During that period he regularly performed in theatre plays, and in 1988 the talented actor first appeared on the big screen, in the controversial movie “Maternal Half-brothers”. 

But it was not until 1997 that Goran Visnjic got his first international opportunity that opened him the doors of Hollywood. Namely, after successfully finishing his auditions Goran Visnjic was offered a role in the movie “Welcome to Sarajevo” directed by Michaela Winterbotton. The film was premiered all over the US, and helped the Croatian actor to get auditions for American movies. Next on, Goran Visnjic was chosen to co-star Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in the movie “Magic”. However 1999 was probably the biggest year for this handsome actor, as he was casted to play Dr. Luka Kovac in the famous series “ER”, starring George Clooney. He quickly began making headlines and was even named Sexiest Import by People Magazine. 

The following year, he made the list of People Magazine 50 Most Handsome Men on the World.

Goran Visnjic’s Emotional Message Honoring Jon Fong

Actor GoranVisnjic was shaken up by the news about Jon Fong’s death. Namely, Jon Fong was the technical advisor on the TV Series ER who prepared Visnjic for the role of Luka Kovac. The series premiered in 1994 and launched the careers of both Goran Visnjic and George Clooney. Goran Visnjic (45) permanently moved to America when he received the role of Luka Kovac in the series 'Emergency Service' or better known as ER. Visnjic's character was added to the cast at the beginning of Season 6 (1999) following the mid-season 5 departure of leading character Dr. Doug Ross, played by George Clooney. As one of "ER's" on-set medical advisers, Dr. Fong has been helping the show’s directors to ensure the authenticity of the scripts, sets, and sounds of "ER" since July 1998. Apart from checking scripts for accuracy, drawing maps that indicate the proper placements of medical props, and choreographing the show’s famous trauma scenes, Jon Fong also orches
