Visnjic: A Reunion to Remember

On the 29th of January, 2016, among the many guests who showed up at Croatia’s National Theatre to watch the 50th gala performance of J. P. Moliere’s “The Bourgeois Gentleman”, directed by Kresimir Dolencic, was also Croatia’s most famous actor Goran Visnjic. Apparently in a good mood, the actor was more than happy to meet his longtime friend and favorite theater partner, actress Alma Prica. Their friendship, as the Zagreb actress revealed, began more than 20 years ago in Dubrovnik. At the event, Zrinka Cvitesic was also in her best mood, and here she explains why.

"Back in 1994, Goran Visnjic and I played Hamlet and Ophelia at the Fort of St. Lawrence. A year later and still in the same roles, we found ourselves on the stage at Zagreb’s National Theatre. Even now, we get to see each other often, both in Croatia and in the US where he currently lives. It's always great to meet up with an old friend, especially if he is so thoughtful like Goran, who managed to surprise his Ophelia by bringing her this beautiful bouquet of flowers", says Alma with great pleasure. "At the time when the two of them were playing "Hamlet" at Dubrovnik’s Summer Festival, Goran Visnjic was only 21 years old."

Although he was clearly in a great mood, actor Goran Visnjic, who attended the gala in the company of his sister-in-law Branka Vrdoljak, said that the he came to the theatre mostly because of his friends. At the 50th performance of “The Bourgeois Gentleman” was also actress Zrinka Cvitesic, who played one of the lead roles. Although her boyfriend Niko, who assiduously manages to avoid publicity, wasn’t there by her site, even without the support of her current partner, the actress kept a smile on her face, throughout the entire night.

This multiple award-wining play is also among the most popular ones performed at Zagreb’s National Theater. The Bourgeois Gentleman is an extremely witty piece, telling the story of the petty bourgeois who believed that money can buy him everything from manners and friends to social status.

Interview on the set of "Crossing lines", season three

Interviewer : A Polish cinematographer once said that acting is more about hiding than showing. Goran Visnjic : I guess that’s true. Interviewer: Your role in "Crossing lines" is a perfect example of this. Marco joined the special unit of the International Criminal Court as an expert in abductions, but kept his privacy and that will remain hidden until the end of the season. Goran Visnjic: It is interesting that you raise the topic at this moment, because today we were shooting a scene with Elizabeth (Mitchell), which has a lot to do with what we're now talking about. Heroine Elizabeth - Karine talked about Marco's sister, who has been kidnapped. She knows very well that he accepts this too personally. Just two hours before starting the filming, writers sent us some new directions for the scenes.
