Goran Visnjic to Appear as Croatian General Gotovina

The life story of Ante Gotovina makes an excellent basis for an interesting movie. We are confident that the story put in the hands of Antun Vrdoljak will become the most watched film in the history of Croatian cinema, said Drazen Klaric, editor in chief of The Times. After long discussions, it is now confirmed that Antun Vrdoljak will start filming the "General" based on the life of General Ante Gotovina, by the beginning of October.

It is planned that the movie is aired in eight sequences. The beginning of the film will reveal details about his birth, early childhood, family and the film will culminate with the special operation Storm, all the way to his trial in The Hague. By now, Croatian newspapers have already published tons of stories about who is going to play General Gotovina. Finally it has been confirmed that the general will be played by no other that Croatia’s most famous movie star, Goran Visnjic. The rest of the cast is equally impressive, including great actors with rich, established career not only in Croatia, but worldwide.

Goran Visnjic has been thinking and considering this project for quite some time now. In fact all of his close ones in America already know about this commitment. As he explains, he still hasn’t meet Gotovina, but he is really looking forward to that in the near future. He is also looking forward to acting in Croatian language, as it has been such a long time since he had last done it. For Goran Visnjic, this project has a special meaning, and he has already aligned all of his commitment and cleared his schedule for the shooting of the “General”. In order to better prepare for the role, Goran Visnjic even went to The Hague and attended the hearing. The producers, as well as the actors, truly hope that this film will show their nation in the best light possible, and won’t cause any unwanted misunderstandings. They are expecting that the “General”will do well on both small, and the big screen.

Interview on the set of "Crossing lines", season three

Interviewer : A Polish cinematographer once said that acting is more about hiding than showing. Goran Visnjic : I guess that’s true. Interviewer: Your role in "Crossing lines" is a perfect example of this. Marco joined the special unit of the International Criminal Court as an expert in abductions, but kept his privacy and that will remain hidden until the end of the season. Goran Visnjic: It is interesting that you raise the topic at this moment, because today we were shooting a scene with Elizabeth (Mitchell), which has a lot to do with what we're now talking about. Heroine Elizabeth - Karine talked about Marco's sister, who has been kidnapped. She knows very well that he accepts this too personally. Just two hours before starting the filming, writers sent us some new directions for the scenes.
